Should You buy A Cheap 8 Man Tent Or Purchase An Expensive Model?
Camping means different things to different people, for some it is an annual or even biannual bit of fun, for others it is practically a way of life in the spring, summer, and autumn months. The price ranges for 8 man tents are hugely varied, and you can spend as little as you would on an iPod Touch, but some can cost the same price as a second hand car.
Some of the cheaper models do have good specifications on paper, such as how much rain they can stand, which is measured by ‘hydrostatic head’. Where the cheaper models do fall down though is on some of the other details. Zips for example are one of the most important elements of a tent, and zips on the cheaper ones tend to be lightweight, and although this is good for transportation, it is certainly not any good when they break after a mere weekend of camping, which does actually happen.
